Aliwal Shoal is listed in Jacques Cousteau’s top 10 dive sites to dive in the world. The reefs are alive with a diversity of marine life that you would travel to multiple destinations worldwide to experience.
It is a rocky reef which is the remains of an ancient fossilized sand dune which is approximately 5 km off the coast. The reef plays host too many kinds of hard and soft corals and an estimated 1200 species of tropical and subtropical fish. There are two wrecks near the reef that are prime sites for divers. The Nebo which sank in 1884 and the Norwegian bulk carrier called the "Produce" which sank in 1974.
This dive site gives you the opportunity to experience everything that is great about diving Sharks, Wrecks, Reef, Drift and launches that are African style exciting!
