Bass lake is a full on camping experience & diving weekend. We take over in true Scubaversity style with, gazebos, dive gear, campers, caravans, trailers and fire pitts. The exciting part of the trip is not only the diving but the land based activities too. Bond fires, braaing, making potjies, watching the night divers, late night jokes & laughter. Awesome hamburgers while we debrief at the restaurant. We have a equipped kitchen with rusks, coffee and tea for the early birds and sometimes left over braaivleis or potjie for the hungry! All that you need is your own camping equipment and refreshment! Bass Lake consists of a 10-hectare body of spring-fed water. Considered by the top certifying agencies (PADI, NAUI, SSI, CMAS, IANTD) to be the best Scuba Training venue in South Africa. Depths vary from a walk in slope to 23m at the deepest point.
Komati Springs offers spectacular shear walls plummeting into the depths. This is set in a beautiful tranquil environment with lush vegetation, ideal environment for some exciting inland diving – something differentto Miracle or Bass. We will be camping so pack the tent, bedding, chairs and some “Obies” to keep youwarm socialising around the campfire.
As an added extra bonus, we drive down for an extra night at Badplaas, Forever Resort. This makes it a fantastic family get away as offer a wide range of activities for the whole family; like a water park & slides, Warm Water Springs, Spa and Eco Adventures.
Crystal clear water, floating water lilies, and a fresh water bed of broad-leaved plants are what creates the fairy tale called Marico Oog. This place of magical beauty is home to various fish species, crab and fresh water eels.
Leave early Friday after work, unpack, set up tents and camp at this fairytale dive site. We spend a relaxing day exploring the wonders of this famous inland dive site. We supply the Breakfast & the famous Scubaversity Potjie on Saturday night.

Marico is renowned for its excellent visibility and lush underwater vegetation and is currently rated as the most scenic of all inland dive sights. For those interested we’re running the PADI Night Diver Specialty. Here Marico offers the night diver a whole new perspective on its beauty and splendor, the perfect location for the dives required for the Night Diver Specialty.
The facilities are basic so bring out the usual camping equipment, chairs, tents, lamps etc. We’ll supply the Breakfast and the infamous Potjie on Saturday night. All you’ll need is your own snacks, drinks & alcohol.
